SPIRITUAL RENEWAL

Encouraging each other through affirmation is crucial to the growing process of a group.  When a youth’s peers compliment them, they feel more confident in their self in relation to the group and can share deeper feelings.  When friends tell a peer that they appreciate them, they realize that they are worthy of love and praise.

PASSIONATE WORSHIP

While at Refuge you have the opportunity to participate in various activities around the camp. High ropes, zip line, cliffhanger swing, horseback riding, and hiking are just a few of things that help make Refuge an unforgettable weekend.

WHAT IS VERITAS?

Veritas is the premier event for ACCYM. Each year, more than 1,400 youth and youth leaders from across the Arkansas Conference come together to celebrate what it means to live a connected Christian life. Nationally-known speakers and musicians headline this amazing experience, where young people will learn to encounter the Lord in new and deeper ways.

But what does it mean to worship? Worship describes those times when we gather deliberately and seek to encounter God in Christ. God uses worship to transform lives, heal wounded souls, renew hope, shape decisions, provoke change, inspire compassion, and bind people to one another. The word passionate expresses an intense desire, an ardent spirit, strong feelings, and the sense of heightened importance. Veritas is where we practice Passionate Worship.

Registration Information

Both of our weekends are full. We are working to see if there are any duplicates or a way we can add a few more. If you need to contact someone about your registration, you can contact our taskforce adults.

Jennie loves to read, eat good food, watch tv, meet new people, hang out with friends, and spend time with her husband and two cute kids. Refuge has always been Jennie‘s favorite ACCYM event. She is pumped to be part of the 2018 Refuge weekends!

What are the accommodations like?
You will be staying in luxury cabins with full kitchens and plenty of bathrooms.

Do I need sheets and towels?
Bed linens and some towels are provided but it is always a good idea to bring your own towel as those go fast.

What kind of clothes should I bring?
Comfortable clothing, although we might have warm weather during the day, it can get pretty chilly at night so be sure to bring a jacket and warmer clothes.
Will there be cell reception?
Cell reception is sketchy at SOTO, you MIGHT have a little reception in the dining hall.  You can use this time off the grid to relax and just get to know God and your peers.
What activities will there be?
There are lots of activities at SOTO. The free activities that are available all the time are basketball, volleyball, Gaga pit and 9 square in the air.  There will also be a FREE goat cave hike Saturday afternoon. You will also be able to choose one of the adventure activities on Saturday afternoon, they all cost $10 to participate. These include the cliffhanger swing, zip line, horseback riding, and archery.
Will I stay with my youth group?
You will be lodging with your youth group and you can do many of the activities together. There will be some small group time and game time on Saturday when you may not be with your entire youth group.
I'm coming as an adult chaperone, what is expected of me?
As an adult, you are invaluable to the success of Refuge!  We need help supervising activities during downtime, making sure lights out happens in each cabin at an appropriate time and making sure the youth attendees are where they are supposed to be at all times. The youth who are leading this event has put a lot of work into making it spiritual and fun for your youth, but they will only get the full experience if they attend every aspect of it. We also ask that you not claim a queen or king size bed by yourself, we will have adult beds marked but in order for us to accommodate everyone, we need more than one person in those larger beds. Please remember the CCYMers are there to facilitate this event, they are youth just doing what they think they are supposed to do.
Will I need to bring money?
Yes, you will need $10 IF you plan to do one of the adventure activities which includes cliffhanger swing, zip line, archery and horseback riding.  Bring your pennies for a penny war to benefit YSF and, as always, YSF will have snacks and other merch for sale AND it goes toward missions in our state through the grants they provide every year.
